With the COVID-19 pandemic as the most pressing health and safety concern for our communities, competitors, coaches, supporters, volunteers, and all those involved in College Sailing, we believe that certain updates to how we operate as a conference are in order. Please find attached a list of requirements and recommendations for competition in SAISA events this fall season. We believe these are not burdensome and where financial impacts are applicable, the conference is dedicating resources to minimize the impact on our college and university programs.

We also expect an announcement from the Intercollegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) in response to COVID-19 with additional changes in policy and procedure. We support these efforts and will share updates on their position as we learn of it ourselves.
We are also working on an adjusted regatta schedule for the fall season and anticipate releasing this after July 15th. Please stay in touch as your programs, colleges, and universities provide you with more guidance and policies which may be relevant for SAISA to consider.
Please reach out if you have questions or concerns, or if you may need help talking with your university or college administration about the fall season. SAISA is doing what we can do to make it as safe as possible to return to the water this fall. I will follow up with an update on regatta host declarations, logistics for providing thermometers and other financial resources to programs, and any other important updates on this rapidly changing situation. Everyone stay safe, do the smart thing, and let’s hope to get on the water together this fall!
